(Photo by Yongyuth Pupuangpech)A flash flood in the middle of Monday night caused the emergency evacuation of at least 30 houses in Ban Pak Pan in Denchai district of the northern province of Phrae, said a military official leading the flood relief operation in the affected area. A flash flood hit the area after continuous heavy rain. In a 4am bulletin, the Meteorological Department said tropical storm Sonca, then centred in the South China Sea, was heading towards the shore of Vietnam at a speed of 65km per hour. The province is bracing for severe flooding this week as the tropical storm takes its toll on Thailand, he said.
